Sir Arnold Bax (1883-1953) The dreamer of myth and legend : a critical biographical sketch

an introductory lecture-demonstration presented by UC Doctor of Musical Arts candidate Daniel Cooper

During his time Sir Arnold Bax was considered Britain's leading symphonist and symphonic composer. His compositional output, in all aspects, is a complex expression of self and the trials and tribulations of mere mortal existence.

What is his story? What has led a man who wrote seven epic symphonies and seventeen evocative tone poems to become lost in the winds of time?

Join UC Doctor of Musical Arts candidate Daniel Cooper on a critical examination of the life and times of Sir Arnold Bax, de-mystifying the music and the man.
