Tiantian Xiao
Power System Engineer – Beca
Tiantian grew up in a power engineering family, spending parts of her childhood next to Gezhouba Hydroelectric dam, along the Yangtze River, in China's Hubei Province. She studied electrical and electronic engineering at the University of Canterbury and graduated with a BE(Hons) with First Class Honours in 2016. She was awarded the UC EPECentre Undergraduate scholarship in 2015 and 2016, and the Electricity Engineers' Association (EEA) Scholarship in 2016. While completing her degree, she gained two years of part-time experience in electrical engineering at Hamer Ltd.
Tiantian is now a protection engineer at Beca, with three years' experience in protection and secondary design. As a protection engineer, Tiantian enjoys "playing" with the relay logic. Her recent work includes the Kikiwa Reactor Protection Design, Redclyffe Transformer Overload Protection Scheme design and Clyde Bypass Protection Design.
