Abstract
New Zealand founded company Rocket Lab recently became the first private company in the world to design and launch an orbital rocket from a privately owned and operated launch site. The Electron rocket has a number of cutting edge technologies including 3D printed engines, battery powered turbo pumps, and carbon composite propellant tanks.
Rocket Lab GNC Engineer George Buchanan discusses the process of designing and launching the Electron rocket, exploring some of the challenges faced and the novel solutions developed.
