The department has extensive laboratory and office space, in-house computing and access to an engineering library.

Students from throughout the world are welcomed in the department. Canterbury graduates obtain employment internationally. Excellence in research has been recognised with distinguished awards from New Zealand and international institutions won by our staff. The department takes pride in providing a comprehensive, practical and stimulating educational learning experience.

The college is well endowed with scholarships with many targeted specifically at Civil and Natural Resources Engineering students at postgraduate level. All graduate students have office space within the department and there is a dedicated postgraduate computer suite. The department has more than 20 highly skilled, experienced technicians who are available to assist with experimental research. Specialised services within the department include electronics technicians, a graphic designer and computer support. Our well-equipped workshops can produce specialised experimental equipment.
