PhD CandidateRibu Dhakal
Research Title: Liquefaction Assessment Methodologies for Reclaimed Land
Ribu’s research interests lie in liquefaction and site response characteristics of nonstandard soils such as hydraulic silty sand fill and gravelly soil. His current research is on developing simplified and advanced numerical methods for accurate liquefaction assessment of reclaimed soils at the port of Wellington, which is primarily composed of nonstandard soils. These methods will then be used to develop event-specific liquefaction hazard maps for the wider Wellington waterfront region for various earthquake scenarios (e.g. Wellington fault, Subduction zone quake).
