Congratulations to Dr Bikesh Shrestha on the successful defence of his PhD thesis titled “Sediment management for catchments with Hydropower dams under uncertainty in future projection” under the supervision of Professor Tom Cochrane.
The study evaluated the uncertainty in sediment projections due to land use / land cover change, climate change and model parameterization, and the implication of sediment management options and costs for catchments with hydropower dams. The Sekong, Sesan and Srepok (3S) subbasin of the greater Mekong River Basin was used as a case study.
Bikesh's PhD was examined by Dr Daniel Kingston from University of Otago and Dr. José Miguel Sanchez Perez from ECOLAB Toulouse and the oral chair was Dr Tonny de Vries.
