Congratulations to UC CNRE’s alumni, Anton Kivell for winning the fib Achievement Award for Young Engineers 2021.
fib, Fédération internationale du béton, is a not-for-profit association formed by 42 national member groups and approximately 1000 corporate and individual members. Its mission is to develop at an international level the study of scientific and practical matters capable of advancing the technical, economic, aesthetic, and environmental performance of concrete construction. fib’s Achievement Award for Young Engineers is awarded every two years at fib symposia. The award includes an invitation to the fib symposium in Lisbon, Portugal in June 2021 and is given in two categories in the field of structural concrete; the Research category, and the Design & Construction category.
Anton was successful in winning the 'Design & Construction' category this year, with his submission on the design and construction of the Kāpiti Expressway, north of Wellington which he was involved in the design of 12 bridges.
Anton was at UC from 2006-09 for his BE and then 2010-11 for his ME, under supervision of Professor Alessandro Plaermo.
