Are you keen for an amazing overseas experience this summer? How about undertaking an internship in vibrant Bangkok? This six-week internship programme is organised in collaboration with Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand. Applications are now open and they close on June 1, 2018. Find out more and apply here.

The ECON228 Study Tour to South America course provides students with the opportunity to travel to Chile and Argentina to learn about the business of selling wine. ECON228 uses economic thinking to understand many aspects of the business of selling wine. After learning the theory, students can see how it applies in practice during our winery visits in the Maipo Valley and the Casablanca Valley in Chile, in Mendoza in Argentina and in Waipara in New Zealand. The study tour allows students to gain first-hand experience in the industry and to learn about the intricacies of viticulture and wine making as well as the cultures and business environments of Chile and Argentina, which are essential for the understanding the business of selling wine. As a happy by-product, students are likely to gain an appreciation for fine wine.

The study tour is open to anyone who has completed a year of study at UC as well as taken ECON104.  It is a limited-entry course and the maximum enrolment is 30. Students will be selected on an online application where emphasis is mostly placed on the student’s motivation for the course (based on the statement of purpose) and previous success in university courses. The course starts on 3 January 2019 and finishes on 15 February 2019 with the study tour taking place 9 January – 8 February 2019. Applications will open on 25 July 2018 and close on 16 August 2018.

This 3 week long program is perfect for those seeking a short-term intensive Korean experience. No prior knowledge of Korean is needed. Students will be offered a language placement test before the start of the programme and placed in a class according to their needs and abilities. If you feel that you are a beginner and that you belong in Level 1, then you do not have to take the placement test. The program is offered spring, summer and winter.

Dates: Summer 1 - August 2, 2018 to August 23, 2018 (language placement test will be held on August 1, 2018 at 2 pm)
Summer 2 - August 29, 2018 to September 18, 2018 (language placement test will be held on August 29, 2018 at 9.30 am)
Winter - January 29, 2019 to February 21, 2019 (language placement test will be held on January 28, 2019 at 2 pm)

The oldest private university in Korea, Yonsei University was first established in 1885 and the vision of the university is to educate leaders who will contribute to humanity in the spirit of “truth and freedom”.

From 2019-2020, Yonsei University offers a 5-week winter program at our Sinchon campus for international students who would like to enjoy the winter in Seoul. Winter Abroad at Yonsei is composed of two separate sessions: Session 1 is a 3-week program focusing on academic achievement with various courses and Session 2 is a 2-week program with an intensive Korean language course along with distinguished cultural and historical lectures related to Korea society.

On the weekend, participants can enjoy special Korean winter activities. Yonsei University provides an excellent opportunity to enhance your scholarship, to interact with eminent professors and to enjoy the companionship of participants from all over the world.

National Taiwan University currently offer two winter programmes; "Chinese Language and Culture" and "Research and Culture." These programs run for 4 weeks and are an excellent opportunity to learn about Taiwanese culture, make friends from around the world, all while studying at a top university! 

UC students will be offered a discounted fee for the program as NTU is one of our partner institutions.

Audencia Business School offer an intensive winter programme in France which will help you build international management and business expertise with a European focus. You’ll enjoy a combination of coursework, weekly company visits, group projects and exciting extracurricular activities. The programme runs for a total of three weeks, but you can take as few or as many weeks as you like! There is no tuition fee for these courses as Audencia Business School is one of UC’s partner institutions.

The Global Opportunities (GO) programs at Universidad le los Andes in Chile offer students the chance to meet international peers in an academic environment. There are 3 programmes to choose from; GO Chile & APEC, GO Spanish and GO Chilean Culture. The programs are intensive and real life-changing experiences, where international students have the opportunity to study with Chilean peers, learn from faculty, improve their Spanish and discover Chile!

The 4th International Summer School on Land-Sky-Ocean, Harbin Institute of Technology, Weihai (HITWH-ISSLASA 2019) is the succession of the annual HITWH-ISSLASA and again provides a platform for the young talents worldwide to show themselves and conduct friendly competition together.

The students will study one-week exciting programme  in Weihai, one of the most beautiful and most liveable cities in China, while having the opportunity to experience the highlights of HIT in ocean science and engineering, automotive engineering and aviation. Meanwhile, it endeavours to offer the students a platform to exchange and gain a valuable insight into the fascinating culture and heritage if Shandong, China.

Wuhan University (WHU) dates back to the Ziqiang Institute, which was founded in 1893 by Zhang Zhidong, the then governor of Hubei and Hunan Provinces in the late Qing Dynasty. It is commonly regarded as the most beautiful campus and a top 10 university in China. The university is located in Wuhan, Hubei, the most populous city in Central China. Lying at the intersection of the Yangtze and Han rivers, Wuhan is recognized as the political, economic, financial, cultural, educational, and transportation centre of central China.

The Luojia International Summer Programme began in 2006.Its theme is UNDERSTANDING CHINA: PAST & PRESENT. It aims to build an international exchange platform to help foreign students know more about China and Wuhan University. Every year, around 30 university students from all over the world will assemble in Wuhan University to experience the study and daily life in Chinese style for 18 days. The Luojia International Summer Programme offers students the chance to study a two-week exciting programme me in Wuhan University and investigate a four-day fascinating programme me in other cities. So then, students will have the opportunity to gain a valuable and comprehensive insight into the innovation and development of China.

Peking University, established in 1898, is the oldest national university in China, and has played an integral role in the development of the Chinese nation. Today, it enjoys international recognition and welcomes young talents from all around the world.

The Peking University Summer School International (PKUSSI) began in 2009. Through a decade of endeavours, it aims to provide aspiring students with the world’s perspectives of China and China’s perspectives of the world. Academic courses with PKU credits are offered for undergraduates, graduates, and working professionals. A variety of course credits, subjects, and durations are available to choose. Fieldtrips as well as extracurricular and social events are also arranged for participants to get more deeply immersed in the local culture and campus life.

Digital Business Master Class is an interactive and fast-paced summer course focusing on digital technologies as tools for building businesses. Students learn how companies transform their processes and systems by implementing digital technologies. During the intense two weeks students build a project and plan a digital solution for a real-life company problem. Concepts covered include mobile and social technologies, service design, data analytics, platforms and ecosystems, business models, working in virtual teams, and project management frameworks.

Founded in 1974, Paris School of Business (PSB) is a state-recognized European elite management school that combines academic excellence, international awareness, and professional experiences. A member of the Conference of Grande Écoles, EFMD and AACSB accredited, PSB is running two summer programmes that are open to UC students.

Option 1: Doing Business and Entrepreneurship in Europe

In addition to following hands on academic lectures at PSB Paris School of Business, students enrolled within this programme have the opportunity to visit start-up incubators, attend entrepreneur meet-ups and/or participate in a business challenge with the aim to understand the world of business and entrepreneurship in Europe.

Option 2: Luxury Brand Management

In addition to providing a focused and vocationally oriented education this programme is enriched by company & concept store visits within the luxury industry to allow students to meet professionals and understand the world of Luxury Brand Management through experiential learning. Extracurricular activities to fully discover and live the magic of Paris are also planned during the short programme.

  • Enrolled in a programme of study offered by the College of Business and Law

The MGMT228 Chinese Business Practices and Culture study tour provides students with the opportunity to participate in the Second Language Promotion Programme (SLPP) at Zhejiang Gongshang University, one of UC’s partners in Hangzhou, China. For a period of three weeks students take courses on Chinese business practices and culture, and interact on a daily basis with Chinese students and businesses. Upon completion of the SLPP programme the tour proceeds to Shanghai where we visit a number of multinational (mostly Kiwi) companies with operations in China.

The study tour is open to anyone who has completed a year of study at UC and at least two commerce papers. The course starts mid-November.
