Why UC Education

Nau mai ki te Ako. At UC we aim to equip you with the education and skills you need to make a positive difference to the lives of tamariki, taiohi and pakeke — children, youth, and adults — and to the communities in which they live.
Our initial teacher education programmes are both for those studying for the first time and those who already have a degree and wish to undertake a one-year programme of study to become a certificated teacher. They include a strong focus on practice-focused learning through both community and school placements. These learning experiences are both rewarding and challenging, and support you in developing you capabilities and practices as an excellent and adaptive teacher in the classroom.
Our new Bachelor of Youth and Community Leadership is an innovative and unique degree that serves to inspire future leaders in our community, providing them with vital building blocks to champion change in a changing world. This degree builds on UC’s international reputation for social action to educate graduates who are more socially, ethically, and culturally aware.
We’re here to support you as you start your lifelong learning journey as an educator and community leader.
