Description

A comprehensive examination of adult development within a family context.

This course will consider a number of topics in Family Psychology, with an emphasis on current research findings in the field. There will be a focus on the relevance of research in Family Psychology to critical issues in Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify several major areas of contemporary research in family psychology
  • Relate these to the New Zealand context
  • Critically evaluate and synthesize the empirical literature on families and mental health
  • Understand the implications of research for policy/interventions.
  • Present research and theory to audiences
  • Work collaboratively on presentation of ideas and information
