Description

Business research methods including statistical and qualitative approaches are introduced. Students will develop the knowledge and skills required to undertake academic and professional research in the field of business.

This course prepares students to carry out business consulting projects for organisational clients under the supervision of an academic. The course is constructed around the needs of participants and their supervisors and clients. It starts with how and why to conduct inquiries for officials of a client organisation and the relationship between the student consultant and the client in the organisation. The course covers the design and implementation of the project, including working with clients and in a consulting team. It covers methods for deriving questions and issues that form the basis of the projects, for conducting inquiries and processing empirical materials, and for presenting and reporting findings and recommendations. The course incorporates reflecting on these as learning experiences to be capitalised on in the future. The organisational research methods include both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Students will develop the knowledge and skills required to undertake academic and professional research in the field of organisations and business administration.
