Description

Bioseparations, process chromatography for therapeutic proteins. Design and operation of bioreactors.

Biomaterial properties and bioseparation processes that exploit these properties to purify biologically-derived materials.

Learning Outcomes

  • Have an overview of the separation and purification of biological materials.
  • Understand how to exploit biological molecular properties for their separation.
  • Obtain an overview of bioseparation principles to develop bioseparation strategies for complex biological mixtures.
  • Understand and apply the principles of process scale-up in bioseparation processes.
  • Apply optimisation and scale-up principles to design or improve a bioseparation process.
