This compulsory course will begin to prepare initial teacher education early childhood students to become competent bicultural and intercultural teachers of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Analyse the complex influences that personal, social, historical, political and cultural factors may have on teachers, learners, families, whānau and childrenExplain how cultural inequalities are constituted in Aotearoa New ZealandExamine contemporary research on teaching strategies and approaches that promote learning cultures that effectively engage culturally diverse learnersDevelop effective and respectful communication skills for promoting inclusive teaching practices for families and whānau with young children.
ON-SITE INTENSIVE Students enrolled in TEDU105-23YC2(D) are required to attend a compulsory face-to-face On-site Intensive in Christchurch.Any costs, including travel, accommodation, childcare etc, associated with attendance at the On-site Intensive are met by the student
