Develop knowledge and awareness of your own culture.2. Describe the historical socio-cultural-political context of Aotearoa New Zealand, including te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the meaning of this for Speech-language therapy clinical and research practices.3. Demonstrate understanding of pōwhiri and marae protocols including introducing yourself using mihimihi.4. Critically reflect on the NZSTA code of ethics and general principles of ethical conduct of speech-language therapists.5. Integrate knowledge of ethical principles with theoretical ethical frameworks, and use this to formulate responses to ethical dilemma encountered in clinical practice.6. Demonstrate understanding a variety of interpersonal counselling and coaching techniques.7. Demonstrate an understanding of family systems approach to speech-language therapy practice.These learning outcomes will be achieved by: Engaging in discussions and activities during lectures.
