The course also introduces students to the history and culture of the different Hispanic countries. By the end of this course students will be able to recognise a variety of discourses and idiomatic expressions as well as communicate at an advanced level in Spanish.

The main objective of SPAN301 is to give students advanced proficiency in Spanish across the four skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing). This course also consists of four main components:  the practice of the complex aspects of Spanish grammar, the development of effective writing and reading skills, the understanding of cultural traits, and the improvement of listening comprehension and speaking fluidity. Grammar is taught in a cultural content-based approach whereby students’ linguistic skills will be improved and reinforced through extended reading, listening, and writing assignments.
