Description

Compiling a portfolio of compositions (notated scores, together with some recordings)

This course gives students the opportunity to create a professional portfolio of musical or sound-based artworks (compositions, songs, sonic art, or sound art works).

Under the guidance of the instructor the student will decide upon a series or works, or one substantial work, that they feel is of critical importance to their artistic advancement. During individual lessons the instructor will guide the student in targeted explorations of technique, repertoire, and notational practice (if relevant) geared towards the creative requirements of the portfolio. If relevant, the instructor will provide advice on compiling professional recordings of notated works.

Supervisory meetings: 1 hour / week

WORKLOAD

Student workload (600 hours) will be allocated to:
• 24 hours attending one-to-one meetings with supervisor(s)
• 36 hours attending composition and / or performance workshops
• 540 hours self-directed study
