Description

This course will assist students to further develop skills in instrumentation and scoring for combinations of instruments, writing arrangements for small ensembles, using virtual instruments, scoring for film, and using the computer to arrange and remix existing work.

Students will attend lectures and tutorials/laboratories.

Learning Outcomes

Students who pass this course will have developed:
*  detailed understanding of instruments, their ranges and capabilities;
*  more advanced skills in orchestrating from piano score to small ensembles and combos;
*  further development of skills in using virtual instruments;
*  more sophisticated skills in remixing, managing timbre and texture;
*  transcription and arrangements for small- to medium-sized ensembles;
*  more advanced skills in some uses of DAWs including software instruments and sample libraries, and remixing.

Assessment and grading system
