Description

This course will assist you to analyse complex organisational behaviour topics at individual, group and organisational levels. The course is focused on accurate problem analysis as well as the leadership skills required to intervene effectively in complex organisational systems.

Learning Outcomes

  • The complex (VUCA) environments in which organisations now operate are demanding a transformation of our leadership practices. This transformation includes a transition from command/control to collective input, probability to possibility, silos to collaboration, power to positivity and detailed strategy to emergence. This transition in organisational leadership practice cannot be achieved without a concurrent development in personal leadership capability. MIT academic Otto Scharmer argues that, “What counts is not only what leaders do and how they do it but their interior condition, the inner place from which they operate”. With this in mind the purpose of this course is to enhance organisational leadership capability by building a personal leadership foundation of mindfulness, positivity and meaning. More specifically the course focuses on building a clear understanding of:

  • The leader’s “interior condition” and its importance in leadership.
  • The concept of positivity and its role in personal wellbeing/resilience.
  • The practices of self-responsibility and mindfulness.
  • The concepts of savouring, engagement and “flow” and their relevance to wellbeing/resilience.
  • The role of Signature Strengths in increasing engagement/wellbeing.
  • The importance of relationships and their contribution to wellbeing.
  • The beliefs that drive optimism/pessimism and explanatory style.
  • The role of meaning and “calling” as a leadership foundation.
  • Your personal vision and the action steps needed to pursue it
  • Specific strategies for building mental fitness and finding support in the accomplishment of your vision.
