This course explores the rules of law that apply to contracts generally, and includes a brief introduction to the law of agency. Other LAWS elective courses will examine those rules that apply to specific contractual arrangements, e.g. LAWS341 Insurance Law.

At the completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the law of contract in New Zealand, apply the law of contract to complex factual situations, and evaluate contract law rules in terms of principle, policy and/or practice.
