INFO635  CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Changes in the role IT require business technology leaders to engage in new business, process and operating models. This course explores contemporary and emerging issues, technologies and business models as these relate to the management and use of information systems to enable and deliver significant, enduring and transforming business impacts and customer value. This course is augmented with INFO353 – Contemporary Issues in Information Systems.  Students enrolled in INFO635 shall attend the same lectures but be additionally responsible for further readings and a research-oriented report.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of key principles related to the application of IT and emerging technologies, including related theories of innovation, change, and technology transfer;
  • Demonstrate understanding of and expertise in emerging technology forecasting.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different digital platforms / services and their suitability for business applications;
  • Demonstrate understanding of and expertise in identifying and evaluating potential advanced IS/IT projects;
  • Demonstrate understanding of design and implementation of emerging technologies that address business or societal problems.
