Data Science Applications for Population Health

Description

In this course the student will apply principles of data science on real-world population health setting, collaborating with community partners to solve real world problems. There will be a mix of classroom instructions, workshops, and a capstone collaborative project with community partners. The community partners will provide a population health related "challenge" to the student and work with them. The student will design and complete a data-driven project towards a solution. The students will work in groups, and they will receive joint supervisions from the academic advisors and the community partner advisors. At the completion of this course, students will do a group-presentation and a written report. Thus the course will provide students an opportunity to display their data science skills in a real-world setting and gain valuable experience of working with future employers and be job-ready.
