Description

Basic concepts and principles in environmental science.

ENVR410 is the first of the two core papers in the Environmental Science programme: all those who wish to undertake an MSc, BSc (Hons) or Dip. Sc in Environmental Science must take this paper (as well as ENVR411). ENVR410 is also available to graduate or Honours students undertaking appropriate degrees or diplomas in other Science or Engineering and Forestry Faculty subjects. It includes an introduction to environmental science and environmental science decision making. It presents some of the established scientific principles needed for understanding of our interactions with the natural environment. There are weekly seminars and one-day fieldtrip.

Learning Outcomes

  • The aims of the paper are:
  • Provide a basic key concepts and principles of Environmental Science.
  • Improve transferable skills, in particular the ability to communicate effectively.

Prerequisites

Subject to approval of the Head of Department.
