Description

Carrying out thermodynamic and flow analyses of engine components; understanding the aero-thermodynamic aspects of aircraft engine component design and their performance relationship.

The course will review the fundamental principles of thermodynamics, combustion and fluid mechanics and how they may be applied to aircraft propulsion. The theory of jet propulsion is introduced along with the concepts relating to thrust generation. Propulsion cycle analysis and the performances for different engine cycles and various engine components will be evaluated. Rocket propulsion concepts will also be discussed.
