RIVER BASIN FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT

Prescription:   Flood risk assessment; Extreme value statistics; Flood modelling and uncertainty assessment; Flood protection; Flood risk audit and planning

Learning Outcomes

  • Upon completion of this course, students will have acquired

       
  •    a broad and cross-disciplinary scientific knowledge on flood risk management;
       
  •    comprehensive knowledge base and understanding of the current theory and practice relating to flooding and flood management;
       
  •    fundamental knowledge leading to sound understanding of socio-economic issue related to flooding;
       
  •    broad scientific knowledge about conservation, restoration and management measures to overcome challenges imposed on water by humans and by climate change, and;
       
  •    extended knowledge on the basin-wide approach to flood risk management.
