Description

Collaborative design of buildings and the use of digital tools. Creativity, communication and coordination in multidisciplinary design teams. Building information modelling strategies. Holistic approaches to building design.

This research and design course applies advanced knowledge of integrated building design and research methods gained in other courses in the programme to a major design project. Learning includes individual and team work.

Learning Outcomes

A student who successfully completes this course should be able to apply advanced knowledge of building design and research methods to integrated building design projects.

Subject to approval of the Head of Department.

Timetable Note

Course Workload and Delivery:

The course runs over a period of 18 weeks, with learning delivered through supervised project work. There are approximately 150 learning hours in total, comprising:

Tutorials 11 hours
Independent learning 140 hours (project work and reading)
Tutorials, which may be attended face-to-face or by video link, are scheduled from 4-5pm on the following days:

31 July; 14 and 21 August; 11, 18 & 25 Sept; 2, 9, 16 and 30 Oct; and 6 Nov

Assessment will be based on a two client presentations and design reports at the end of Phases 1 and 2.

Assessment will be based on clarity of communication and presentation of design ideas and challenges, and the quality of design notes.

Indicative Fees

Domestic fee $1,164.00
