An examination of evidence-based practices for specialist teachers of learners who have complex educational needs, including common professional practices of specialist teachers and other educational and health professionals involved in special and inclusive education.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students who  complete this paper successfully should be able to:

  • Analyse, synthesise, and evaluate evidence-based practices in Complex Educational Needs including generic interprofessional practices relating to special and inclusive education;
  • Apply a collaborative and consultative model of working in partnership with other professionals, stakeholders, family, whānau, and communities;
  •  Demonstrate professional skills relating to learning with, from, and about other specialist through engaging in interprofessional communities of practice;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Māori and multicultural concepts and practices as they relate to professional practice in general and Complex Educational Needs in particular.

Students should submit assignments as outlined in the individual paper guidelines. Mostly, this will be able to be completed online. However in some circumstances paper copies may be required and submitted.
