Description

An examination of evidence-based professional practices in the area of Early Intervention, including common professional practices of specialist teachers and other educational and health professionals involved in special and inclusive education.

Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this paper should be able to:

1. Analyse, synthesise, and evaluate evidence-based practices in Early Intervention including   generic interprofessional practices relating to special and inclusive education.
2. Apply a collaborative and consultative model of working in partnership with stakeholders, family, whānau, communities and other professionals involved in the early childhood and education sectors.
3.   Demonstrate professional skills relating to learning with, from and about other specialists through engaging in interprofessional communities of practice
4. Demonstrate an understanding of Māori and multicultural concepts and practices as they relate to professional practice in general and Early intervention in particular

This programme uses Moodle as the online learning environment.

Please note that this learning environment is not hosted via the websites of either University (Stream at MU or Learn at UC) but is an independent website designed specifically for this programme and hosted by a 3rd party provider contracted by the Universities.

Students should submit assignments as outlined in the individual paper guidelines. Mostly, this will be able to be completed online. However in some circumstances paper copies may be required and submitted.

It is the responsibility of the students to check their Internet access and ability to submit their work via the online system.  Any technical difficulties should be notified well in advance of the due date so that assistance can be provided or alternative arrangements can be negotiated.
