This course will help participants to structure a blended learning environment that delivers content successfully, fosters online collaboration and supports the learner. The course will provide participants with an opportunity to carry out an independent project in education or training, and to enhance both their professional practice and the theoretical understandings by undertaking research which investigates blended practices. Designed for educators in all phases of education and training, including early childhood and industry related training.

The course community will foster everyone as a leader who becomes better able to influence others to use new media appropriately. Become a digital education leader: The course models effective learning on the move. We use our UC Learn course site as a base from which to branch out and explore the most recent apps and online opportunities with the latest research. In doing so we prepare you to become a digital education leader with engaged digitally fluent learners. Reflect critically: Understand not only the opportunities but also challenges of the digital world such as cyberbullying and ‘screen addiction’ and develop strategies to enhance digital wellbeing.Our courses attract participants from a diverse range of backgrounds and include teachers, instructional designers, trainers and community educators in Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas. In addition, students are also welcome to engage in UC e-Learning Research Lab events. #UCeLab
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:demonstrate knowledge of and familiarity with a broad range of digital tools and analyse and evaluate how their use can support and extend student learning;demonstrate an understanding of the design elements in an e-learning environment;select and evaluate research in the field of e-learning to identify pedagogical, cultural and social aspects;synthesise and apply current research on future focused learning;apply selected theories to increase effective practice in e-learning; critically evaluate pedagogical, cultural, and social issues and identify their impact.

Course participants are expected to participate actively in the online learning environment. Course participants will be required to plan, implement and evaluate a mini research project for a centre, school or other education or training context.
