Special Topic
The course will cover topics related to web scraping, microeconomic theory, econometrics (software issues, main techniques), etc. The recommended applications will be mostly in wine economics, restaurant economics and cultural economics. The students will then:- choose a topic in microeconomics (e.g. price dispersion, impact of expert opinions on prices, attendance, determinants of expert opinions, etc.)- collect data from the web (Google Scholar, online wine or restaurant guides, etc.)- conduct an empirical analysis based on modern econometric techniques depending on the type of data collected (diff-in-diff, reg. discontinuity, panel analysis, etc.)- write a report (introduction, theory, data, results, conclusion)- present at the end of the semester their work in front of their classmates to get comments and feedback- discuss the work of another group
