Additional Course Outline Information

Academic integrity

The University of Canterbury considers cheating and plagiarism to be serious acts of dishonesty.  All assessed work must be your own individual work unless specifically stated otherwise in the assessment guidelines. Material quoted from any other source must be clearly acknowledged. You must not copy the work of another person (student or published work) in any assessment including examinations, tests and assignments. Any person, who is found to have copied someone else's work, or to have allowed their work to be copied, will receive a fail grade for that piece of assessment and may face disciplinary action, which may lead to a fine, community service or exclusion from the university.
You should be aware of the University’s regulations and policy regarding student conduct, including the General Course and Examination Regulations

IMPORTANT: Where there are concerns regarding the authorship of written course work, a student can be required to provide a formal, oral explanation of the content of their work.

Assessment and grading system

Written assignments will be graded Pass or Fail in relation to the level of professional competence demonstrated. Marking sheets used by the marker will be posted on LEARN and discussed with students.

Evaluation

Formal and informal evaluation will take place in accordance with the relevant Course Evaluation Policy, to provide feedback to teaching staff about the relevance and validity of what has been learned as well as the quality of course delivery. The lecturer will feedback to the students information underpinning course design and evaluation.

Grade moderation

The College undertakes a process of internal and external moderation of assessment. This is to ensure the assessment system is fair, equitable, consistent and manageable. If students are unhappy with their grade they should approach the course coordinator in the first instance to discuss or request a remark.

Late submission of work

Late submissions are only permitted when the intern has been formally granted an extension by the course coordinator or Programme Director. Extensions to deadlines may be given in extenuating circumstances, including, but not limited to: significant illness or worsening of scale or impact of disability; significant distress in relation to personal circumstances; or significant constraints within internship to necessary facilities that support the assignment that are beyond the intern’s control (supporting documentation may be requested). Any extension must be agreed in advance of the date of the deadline.

Resubmissions

Only one resubmission is permitted for each written assignment.

Special Consideration

Aegrotats (special consideration for assessment items) are not permitted for this course. Students may apply for special consideration for late discontinuation.

Where to submit and collect work
