The UC Employability Portfolio provides students with formal recognition of activities that increase their employability and their engagement with the community.

This course is being staged with the assistance of UC Careers, UC Academic Skills and UC e-Learning Support.

The intention of BSNS299 UC Employability Portfolio is to help you prepare for gaining employment in the workforce by providing you with formal recognition of activities during your degree that entailed some of these attributes. Indeed, by requiring you to prepare an e-portfolio as part of the assessment process, BSNS299 means you are developing technological, creativity and marketing skills and exhibiting independent working, autonomy and a sense of reputation. BSNS299 should also encourage you to reflect between your technical and academic learning and what you will face once you embark on your career in professional work, as an entrepreneur or whatever else life holds for you.

The LEARN site is vital to your success and has open access to all UC students and staff.

Learning Outcomes

Any 180 points. Must be enrolled in the BCom.

Assessment

The course requires the following to be completed for this or for other courses in your degree:
1.   An e-portfolio comprising all the other elements listed below.  
2.   A curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé.
3.   A self-presentation video that introduces yourself and highlights the skills and expertise you would bring to an employing organisation.
4.   A LinkedIn page and suitable connections to other people, groups and organisations.
5.   An English language test result, covering reading, writing, speaking and comprehension.
6.   A written reflection on a suitable episode of community, professional or inter-cultural engagement, and further records from the activity itself (e.g., if a dance performance, you’d be welcome to submit a video; for a professional one-day seminar, the programme, certificate of attendance or invoice).
7.   Examples of work from other courses or similar that bring out your discipline-related knowledge and skills.
