Social Enterprise Challenge 2019
Are you interested in learning more about social enterprise? Are you keen to hone your skills for the real-world and take on a challenge to improve our climate? UCE disrupt is partnering with the CCC to provide a two-day Social Enterprise Challenge that tackles Aotearoa's carbon emissions head on. We are inviting tertiary students from across the country who share our passion for reducing Aotearoa’s carbon footprint to join us!
As a competitor in the 2019 Social Enterprise Challenge you will work in teams to create a social enterprise concept. Throughout the challenge there will be expert mentors to help you think bigger, heaps of sustainable food, and cash prizes awarded at the end of the challenge. To top it all off - registration for the challenge is completely free!
Monday 16 September: Online launch
Thursday 19 - Friday 20 September: Two day challenge on UC campus
Saturday 21 September - Impact Summit - UCE’s largest event of the year, which will take you through a journey of interactive workshops, world-class speakers, networking and activities that will fill you with the inspiration and energy you need to take your next steps. This event is optional for participants who are not on a scholarship.
UC students can pop out to attend lectures on the Challenge days. You must be available for the final presentations on Friday afternoon.

What to expect
Throughout the two days you will be working with your team to evolve an idea into a 3 minute presentation. You cannot use an idea that you have already been working on before the challenge.
On the first day, experts and industry leaders from the Christchurch City Council will work with your teams in a mentoring session. This will provide plenty of expertise to help push your idea forward. Towards the end of the day UCE will also provide a check in, which allows your team the opportunity to run through your presentation and receive some feedback.
Day two is where your team will really fine tune your ideas and work on your presentations. UCE will provide a final check point to give any last minute feedback for your team. For your presentation your team will have 3 minutes to pitch your idea to a panel of judges. After the winners have been announced your team can chill out, celebrate what you have achieved over the weekend and enjoy some drinks and nibbles!
Who should attend?
Tertiary students across all institutions and degrees are welcome to attend our challenge! No background experience in social enterprise or climate knowledge is required. This challenge is designed for all tertiary students of all levels. Outside of Canterbury? Click here for travel scholarship info.
