The Gro•Up Group won the Change-Maker Award at the UCE Summer Startup Showcase in February 2020

UC students, Anzac Gallate and Jack Fraser founded The Gro•Up Group to develop educational programmes for primary schools. Their mission is to empower the next generation of active citizens by educating primary school students about environmental sciences.

Anzac and Jack were part of the 2019-2020 UCE Summer Startup Programme in which they received a $5,000 scholarship. The Programme was an opportunity for 24 students to spend 10 weeks working full-time to develop their business ventures. At the final showcase in February, all students pitched their ventures to a panel of judges and The Gro•Up Group won the Change-Maker Award.

The Gro•Up Group then went onto win The Dream Believe Succeed Award, which includes:

  • $20,000 cash to help deliver The Gro•Up Group's educational programmes to schools throughout NZ.
  • An accounting package from Deloitte to the value of $5,000
  • A legal package from Lane Neave to the value of $5,000

  • An event marketing package from Happy Hire valued at $500
  • An insurance package from Sherpa Insurance valued at $1,500
