Summer Startup students announced

The UC Centre for Entrepreneurship (UCE) is excited to be kicking off their sixth annual Summer Startup Programme.

The UCE EY Summer Startup Programme is a chance for students to work full time on fast-tracking the development of their ideas into realistic business ventures. The 2018/19 cohort is the sixth group to take advantage of this opportunity to push themselves to the next level over the summer semester. Congratulations to the following 25 students for earning a place in this year's Programme.

The ten-week Programme includes engaging workshops and seminars delivered by UCE staff and experts from Christchurch’s local innovation ecosystem. Students are supported through comprehensive mentoring and coaching while exploiting the Lean Business Model methodology to rapidly progress their ventures.

The Summer Startup Programme cohort is supported through $5,000 UC Innovators’ Scholarships. Scholarship recipients include 9 Postgraduates and 15 Undergraduates from across all five University of Canterbury Colleges. Students come from a range of degree programmes including Engineering, Sports Science, Fine Arts, Commerce, Law, Arts, Science and Product Design.

At the end of the summer, every participant gives a five-minute presentation. The top 10 are selected to compete at the Summer Startup Pitch Showcase. The Showcase, Thursday 7 February, is open to the wider public and attracts an audience of more than 250 people.
