Bespoke programmes

We create bespoke professional development programmes for our programme partners listed above to support their staff development and capability building.

Host a student

Students across all our Master's programmes are required to complete a project and/or internship to meet the requirements for their degree. This provides a fantastic opportunity to have a project or internship at no cost.

  • UC Business School also provides undergraduate students with internship and project opportunities as well as hosts industry speakers and panels.  See our industry and partners section for information about engaging with the wider Business school.

A Master's student can complete a project or internship for your organisation at no cost. The project will be sponsored by a member of your organisation in a relationship like that of employer and employee and should involve regular contact and consultation.

A project is applied and includes some component of research. It will focus on a specific issue that may be related to what your organisation is currently doing and what your goals are. The project scope is discussed in preliminary meetings between sponsor and student. Onsite hours for project students will largely be dependent on your organisation's needs and the nature of the project.

An internship involves the student working on a task or set of tasks based on a specific issue. The scope of both the internship and project must be relatively defined in order for students to meet their academic requirements. We can work with you one-on-one to determine the best option for your business. Internship students will typically be onsite at their host organisation for three days each week for the 10-week period.

The project or internship will culminate in the production of a report or case study that is made available to your organisation. A confidentiality agreement and UC Project Agreement is also signed prior to the project starting, by the student and your chosen sponsor.

Our students come from a diverse range of academic and cultural backgrounds, from New Zealand and abroad. All students complete a rigorous application process and have to meet high GPA and English language requirements to be selected into the programme. For MBA students, they are also required to demonstrate at least five years experience in a managerial, professional, entrepreneurial or leadership role.

In order to provide students with opportunities to undertake research and consultancy projects and internships, we work closely with a large number of local and national commercial and not-for-profit organisations. These organisations volunteer their time and support for the duration of the project or internship, which can vary from 200 (Professional Master's) to 600 (MBA) hours. On completion, the students produce a report or case study that is made available to these organisations.
