Tahlia’s time with UC focused largely on getting the best value from the study and work experiences available to her, opening her eyes to her future career prospects. She completed a number of internship courses giving her an inside look at where her English and Media and Communications studies can lead, locally and overseas, and now works as a freelance writer.
Ben - Columnist - Postgraduate Diploma (Journalism)
‘I’ve always enjoyed writing and have wanted to make the world a better place, and when I learned you could combine the two I knew what I was going to do.’
Ben moved to New Zealand to follow his passion in writing, and it was the reputation of the Post Graduate degree in Journalism that convinced Ben to enrol at UC. By joining a few of the many clubs on offer at UC, Ben quickly settled into his new surroundings, making life-long friends in the process. Since graduating Ben has filled many roles as a writer, the most recent working for NZ Herald where he says ‘the great thing about my job is no two days are the same’.
Karel - Educational Content Generator - Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Laws
‘I loved that it was a relatively small class, so we got on quite well together. It also involved learning about the unique Russian culture and history, which I found fascinating.’
Karel has always had a passion for foreign languages, spending a number of years studying Spanish, French and Japanese before going to university. Karel had an easy choice choosing Linguistics as an area of study to expand on his knowledge with language history and analysis. Having now graduated, Karel currently creates content for language courses at Education Perfect, which provides online learning resources for schools around the world.
