Publication provides a historical overview of the development of the country's rail network, including the growth of the branch lines and then the decline and closure of these. Each of the 42 lines is described in detail, as to why is was constructed, including stations built, why and when to the line closed. There are specific instructions to follow each line and features to look out for. There are numerous photographs, both historical and current.
