Welcome to the University of Canterbury. We care about your wellbeing and safety. There is a lot of health, safety and wellbeing information on our website so we have created this easy list of shortcuts to help those new to UC, to quickly find out what you need to know.

Your manager or supervisor will arrange for specific health and safety inductions to the areas and facilities you will be accessing. We encourage you to take some time to look through the information below, and if you have any questions, please contact one of the health and safety team.

Defibrillator locations

The University has a number of these devices across campus.  You do not need to be trained to use a defibrillator as each unit provides audable instruction.

First Aiders List

In the case of a medical emergency, UC has many trained first aiders throughout our campus.  The UC Health Centre is just a call away and conveniently located. Please make an appointment and wear a mask when visiting the Health Centre. Do not go if you have cold/flu symptoms. 

Online Ergonomic Assessments

When you start working at your new work station, it is important to ensure that you are set up correctly in order to avoid discomfort or pain during your work day. SafetyHub have some helpful videos here which outline the important factors to consider. If pain or discomfort persists, please complete an Incident form on Assura here
