Beatrice Tinsley - RRSIC Stage 2
Rutherford Regional Science and Innovation Centre (RRSIC) Stage 2 comprises demolition of the existing von Haast building and construction of a multi-storey timber-framed building, named Beatrice Tinsley, on the same site to accommodate College of Science staff and postgraduate students.

Due for completion in 2019, Beatrice Tinsley will push the boundaries of multi-storey timber-framed construction in New Zealand.
The design was driven and developed by a team from UC, BECA and architects Jasmax.
It uses laminated veneer lumber, or LVL, which has incredible strength and incorporates innovative timber technology that UC researchers developed at the University, and are teaching our Engineering students to use.
