What does setting up an online assessment involve both from a pedagogical and technological point of view?  Learn about the different approaches to online assessment and the affordances and limitations of online assessment technologies. A range of online assessment examples will be discussed to cover different scenarios (e.g. closed and open book exams, individual and group submissions, class presentations).

Intended Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  1. Plan and design online assessment activities that reflect their course’s assessment plan and needs
  2. Discuss different types of online assessment (e.g. closed/open book exams, individual/group assignments, presentations) and reflect on the affordances and limitations of technologies used for these online assessments.
  3. Select online assessment technologies that are fit for purpose
  4. Demonstrate understanding of what is involved in setting up online assessment both from a pedagogical and technical perspective.
