Shirtcliffe Fellowship

These fellowships arise from a gift made to the University of New Zealand in 1935 by Sir George Shirtcliffe, of Wellington.

The purpose of the Shirtcliffe Fellowships is to assist students of outstanding ability and character who are graduates of a university in New Zealand, in the continuation of their studies in New Zealand or the Commonwealth.

The fellowships shall be open to persons of either gender who are NZ citizens who:

a) are candidates for a doctoral scholarship awarded by a New Zealand university; and
b) whose degree is awarded in any faculty or school which, if that degree had been available in 1935, would in the opinion of the NZVCC be expected to have been awarded following a course of
study in one or other of the Faculties of Arts, Science, Law, Commerce or Agriculture.
