University of Canterbury Senior Scholarship


Senior Scholarships are awarded by the University Council on the recommendation of the Academic Board. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, which is assessed by GPA for courses at 200 level and 300 level, and no application is necessary. Twenty-five scholarships are currently offered each year.


In any year, students are considered for a University of Canterbury Senior scholarship if, in the formal year of the award, they have either:
a. successfully completed the final year of a programme for the degree of BA, BCom, BCJ, BEd (Physical Education), BFA, BHSc, BSc, BSpC, BTchLn (Early Childhood), BTchLn (Primary), or MusB; or
b. successfully completed the penultimate year of a programme for the degree of:
i. BE(Hons), BSc(Hons), BSLP(Hons), or LLB(Hons), or BSW; or
ii. BForSc and are likely to attain the BForSc degree with honours.
