Scholarships
The University of Canterbury is dedicated to attracting the best and brightest students from around New Zealand. It has never been a better time to choose UC.
An unlimited number of new UC Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships, ranging in value from $1000 to $3000 will be on offer to students who achieve NCEA merit or excellence endorsements or their equivalent. Such scholarships will take a significant chunk out of First Year fees and make a tertiary education all the more affordable.
A large number of scholarships are also on offer to full-time first-year students
- UC Emerging Leaders’ Scholarships
Includes subject-specific scholarships, Sports Awards and Maori and Pasifika Awards. Applications close on 1 October 2010.
- Scholarships from colleges
Each College offers scholarships for their disciplines and in some cases for Māori and Pacific students.

Halls of residence scholarships
A wide range of scholarships are available, tied to specific subject areas, geographical regions, or personal circumstances. - Canterbury Bright Start Scholarships
Offered to New Zealand students who have resided in the South Island north of the Waitaki River for the past 12 months and who are facing serious financial challenges.
- Scholarships for Māori and Pacific students

- Scholarships for International Students
There are just under 100 scholarships that international students are eligible to apply for, with the New Zealand Government offering many more. International PhD students pay tuition fees at the same low rate as New Zealand students (provided they reside in New Zealand and study under a New Zealand visa).
