Student Loans (Studylink)

Studylink is the New Zealand’s Government’s student loan entity. It ensures that all New Zealand students get access to the finance and support they are entitled to in order to complete tertiary study.

If you are considering applying for a Student Loan for study in 2011, make sure you get your application in to StudyLink as early as possible.

If you are a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident you may be eligible for a Student Loan. You can borrow:

  • the amount of your course fees
  • up to $1,000 for course-related costs such as textbooks or transport
  • up to $160.24 a week for living costs if you are a full-time* student, less any Student Allowance you receive if you are approved.
