Web Manager's Update - October '07

17 Oct 2007

We've had a busy month with increased web support, preparing for opening of enrolment, planning for 2008, major projects and completing our Change proposal submission.

Change Proposal

  • Web Team is part of the SRDU Change Proposal. Submissions are due noon Friday 19 October. We encourage you to take the opportunity to read the proposal and submit any feedback you have.

CMS Demos on Campus

  • CMS Demos at the end of October - Come and see the short listed CMS vendors and products in formal demos being held at the end of October.

Web survey results

  • Its good to see that our service is hitting the mark with an overall satisfaction rating of 4.34/5. Thanks to those of you who took the time to complete our Web Survey. Full results and the actions resulting from these will be posted soon.

Web support up 30%

Web support is up by around 30% on the year average due to the extra load for the College of Education which used to be done by Traci and Clare when they were part of our team.

Dreamweaver training

Over the pass month we have held 4 courses to catch up on the back log of Dreamweaver training. Next training sessions will be in November.

New Web Stats Software

We have just purchased Urchin (from Google Analytics) and are currently trailing it. It promised rich, interactive stats reports across all websites.

IE 7 for Semester 1 2008

We propose deploying Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) across UC for start of Semester 2008. This software offers a number of improvements over IE 6 such as tabbed browsing and will work better with some of the web applications staff use frequently. We are commencing consultation and testing.
