Forum wrap up
Key discussion
The second Web Administrators Forum was held on Tuesday 21 August 2007 with 28 people attending.
The following discussion occurred:
CIS resources
- Edit button - When entering information into CIS for courses, make sure you select the edit button down the bottom first and save after updating information.
- 'Available for web'- If the information that you have added is not showing on the Courses, Subjects and Qualifications site - double check that the 'Available for Web' check box is checked in the general details section of CIS for the specific course.
- Automatic ticking of the 'Available for Web' check box should be done in mid-October, with an email to web administrators giving notice a few weeks before. We will do this.
How to
- Web is best: Consensus was that website is best for 'how to' resources.
- Images for web: Interest was expressed in preparing images for the web training (using Photoshop Elements), available subject to demand from Web Team.
Web Style Guide
- Back to top links would be useful for long pages in the guide. We will add these.
- News vs. events dates on the Web Team home page look inconsistent and more distinction needs to be made with these. We will rationalise the formats.
- Email notification of change when thy occur to the style guide would be very useful so we'll do that.
- Monthly update would be useful for web administrators - starting this month.
- Table styles would be enhanced by sample formats with visuals showing how the styles look, and whether they apply to one of more of table, row or cell. We will add this to the guide.
Next forum
There will be another web administrators forum in about 6 weeks, the details of which will be posted on UC Diary and emailed to all Web Administrators before hand.
Please email websupport@canterbury.ac.nz with topics you'd like to see in the forum.
