Getting started: creating links
The principle of creating a link is the same regardless of the type of link. Select something on your page (eg text), then apply (or attach) a link to it.
There are three parts to making great links:
- Make links technically correct and they will work 100% of the time
- Make the link title meaningful and format correct to enhance your readers experience (eg readers can tell at a glance an email link versus a link to a web page, versus a link to a PDF document etc)
- Only include text in your links, not on spaces at either end of the text. If you include spaces in links they eventually become broken links. Spaces are often ignored when links are later edited (and only the text is selected)

3. Creating or editing links in an SSI file (eg left navigation, subnavigation)
SSI files (or includes) are files appear on multiple pages and are only updated in one place.
