UC forms enterprising new partnership with Lincoln University


Science entrepreneurs are to be brought into UC to advise on preparing students for the commercial world and identifying commercial potential in research projects.

The joint UC/ Lincoln University project, “Building a University Enterprise Culture”, has been awarded $2.4 million from the Tertiary Education Commission's Growth and Innovation Pilot Initiatives.

Former Shell Group chairman talking climate change in Christchurch this month


A former chairman of the energy and petrochemical giant, Shell Group, who says there is little hope for the world unless carbon dioxide emissions are dealt with, will present a lecture in Christchurch later this month hosted by the University of Canterbury.

Boost for bio-energy industry


New Zealand's bio-energy industry has received a major boost with the opening of a biomass gasifier at the University of Canterbury's Wood Technology Research Centre.

Game, set, match


A product developed at UC's Human Interface Technology Laboratory (HITLabNZ) has scored a straight sets victory at the International Mobile Gaming Awards in Barcelona.

Swedish PhD student Anders Henrysson beat 170 developers to win the US$10,000 Grand Prix Award and the US$2,500 Best Technical Achievement Award for his innovative mobile game ‘AR Tennis'.
