The University Council is the governing body of the University. It is responsible for the governance of the University, and its powers are set out in the Education Act (1989). Its powers include the oversight of the institution's policy, degree, financial and capital matters. The Council is chaired by the Chancellor, Dr John Wood. In the absence of the Chancellor, the Pro-Chancellor, Trevor McIntyre, deputises. The names of Council members are followed by the year their term ends.
