Summer study guidelines
Fees, timetable and other course information
Students studying over summer who are not currently enrolled at UC will pay a compulsory Student Services Levy in addition to their course fees. The amount of the levy will depend on the length of enrolment. For more information refer to the 2018 Guide to Enrolment.
The last classes before the Christmas break will be on Thursday, 21 December 2017 and the first classes in the New Year will be on Wednesday, 3 January 2018.
To check your eligibility for StudyLink assistance (student loan, student allowance or living costs) go to StudyLink Student Loan fee payment.
For StudyLink advice, information booklets and application forms contact StudyLink on 0800 88 99 00 or go to StudyLink website.
UC reserves the right to cancel a summer course if the minimum number of enrolments is not reached. If this occurs, the School or Department will notify you directly.
Workload and expectations
We deliver most summer courses using an intensive teaching format. This condensed teaching and assessment schedule is demanding, so we recommend you take no more than two courses (up to 30–60 points) during summer.
We also recommend that you spread your courses across the November and January sessions rather than enrolling in two courses in one session. Note that due to the compressed and intensive nature of summer courses, it is often not possible to be as generous with extensions as it is for semester courses.
Summer School results release dates
- Grades for courses with end dates in December will be released to students on Friday, 19 January at the latest.
- Grades for courses with end dates in January/February will be released to students on Friday, 16 February at the latest.
